Audley End railway station serves the small village of Wendens Ambo and the nearby town of Saffron Walden. The station is named after the manor of Audley End in Essex. There was formerly a platform at the east end of the station (52°00′15″N 0°12′28″E / 52.0043°N 0.2077°E / 52.0043; 0.2077) for a branch line to Saffron Walden, though this was closed in 1964. Newport Free Grammar School Newport Free Grammar School, in Newport, Essex, England was founded in 1588.[1] The school is a mixed comprehensive school with a sixth form. It previously existed in different forms, such as a boarding school and a grammar school. The Headteacher is Sean O'Hagan and the Deputy headteachers are Kay Turner, Matt Gibson and Mike Hodgkiss. There are about 1034 students, including 194 in the sixth form.[2] Audley End House Audley End House (grid reference TL524381) is largely an early 17th-century country house just outside Saffron Walden, Essex, south of Cambridge, England. It was once a palace in all but name and renowned as one of the finest Jacobean houses in England. Audley End is now only one-third of its original size, but is still large, with much to enjoy in its architectural features and varied collections. It is currently in the ownership of English Heritage. Information by Wikipedia.com
